Best Buds

Colin, Avery, & Caden

Last weekend, one of my best buds, Emily, came to visit along with her hubby Brandon and Colin's best bud (and Avery's future husband :)) Caden. In preparation for Easter, we took some bunny pictures. They didn't turn out quite as hilarious as their Halloween pumpkin picture, but they are still cute. It's so fun watching the kiddos grow and change together.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Colin celebrated St. Patrick's Day by wearing green all week long. Kevin and I celebrated by playing hooky from work and returning to Kilarney's for our "anniversary" lunch. It was a great day and we love our annual tradition! We hope everyone had a happy day! XOXO

Nine Months

Happy nine (and a half) months Colin! You are (army) crawling all over the place, into everything, love to open and slam doors/drawers, and can sit up from a laying down position on your own. You like your toys, but love Guinness's toys. You shriek when you're excited, wave your arms, and pant like a puppy. You can pull yourself up to a standing position, which prompted your dad to lower your crib mattress to the bottom level. You now have six teeth-- two bottom and four on top. You're eating a bit more finger foods-- cheerios, pasta, banana. You were sick for the first time with the stomach flu. You're now feeling better, but no longer sleeping through the night. You love playing patty-cake and continue to put everything in your mouth. We're working on waving good-bye....you're not so sure about it. You love to ride on dad's shoulders (or the dog), be pushed on the playground swing, and crawl after the vacuum cleaner. You respond to your name and love when we sing to you (I think you're the only one who likes to hear me sing!). You weigh almost 23 pounds (90th percentile) and are 29 inches tall (75th percentile). You're almost perfect...If only you'd sleep through the night again!!! :)

Pajama Time

The last few days, Colin and I have been feeling a little under the weather. Today, we're on the mend, but Kevin is gone, so it's been a pajama day....for the third day in a row. Here are a few snapshots of Colin's latest antics...in his jammies of course.

Playing with the door stop...and trying to eat it!

Opening and slamming drawers.

He's so proud of himself!

And grinding his six teeth...It's up there with styrofoam for the worst sound ever!

Baby Riley

Yesterday, we got to meet our newest cousin, baby Riley. We left our visit with him feeling so content. Riley is an adorable and sweet baby with parents, grandparents, and an auntie that love him so much. Kelly and Geoff have such a happy home and we loved spending the afternoon together and introducing the two (second) cousins.

One Cool Dog

Guinness Whalen has now completed basic dog training. He even received a certificate telling us all the cool things he can do: sit, watch, down, wait, okay, come, stay, off, place, and heel.

If only all this were true... Guinness is still (very much) a work in progress.

However, what the certificate doesn't include:

He doesn't mind when his face is clawed at...

His nose is poked...

Or his tail is pulled.

For these reasons alone, we think he's one cool dog! We love you Guinness!

Happy Furlough Days

I just received an email from my school district asking me to complete a survey about our upcoming contract negotiations. They wanted to know if I would rather rescind my furlough days (unpaid holidays) and lay off teachers instead. Ummmm...I don't have to think twice about that one. Not only is my good friend #2 on the hire list (second to last person hired and second person to go), I am LOVING my furlough days. So bring on the furlough days...Furlough me some more! I love being home with my little man!

A little slice of furlough heaven!
